The Inner City Film Collaborative is a Boston youth filmmaking and mentorship initiative where young people learn the complete craft of film by making real films, together, from the first idea to the final screening.
Young people across Boston neighborhoods work side by side with mentors and a crew: story, screenwriting, directing, camera, acting, sound, editing, and presentation. Every stage becomes one connected production, not a lesson about film.
A session looks like a working set. The crew arrives, reviews the day, takes on real roles, shoots or writes or cuts the material in front of them, then watches the result together and decides what the next session has to solve. Nobody waits for a turn, because a film needs every position filled.

Development, screenwriting, pre production planning, production, post production, and premiere. Each stage carries the same film forward, so nothing is practiced in isolation.
Writer, director, assistant director, camera, gaffer, sound, performer, editor, and producer. Students rotate through positions so they understand how a set actually works.
Working filmmakers and community mentors sit in the room, give notes, and hold the standard, the way an experienced crew brings along a new one.
A finished film with credits, a poster, a trailer, and a public screening, plus portfolio material each young filmmaker can carry into the next opportunity.
Mentorship and crew based production give young people a constructive way to express themselves, build practical skills, take on real responsibility, and choose positive alternatives to violence, with ownership of stories rooted in their own communities.
Students complete real films, build portfolio material, and gain crew experience across the full process of writing, directing, camera, sound, performance, and editing, alongside mentors who help them carry the work forward.
